A very successful launch on the new facility took place this afternoon with The President of the GAA, Jarlath Burns, accompanied by the chairpersons of the four GAA codes in the parish. The first stop was at St. Mary's National School, where Master McDonnell assembled an impressive guard of honour with children in their club and county jerseys welcoming President Burns. The President emphasised to the children that there are “people from the clubs who have big dreams, big visions and big plans for the area and have purchased land for new playing fields”. The biggest cheer of the day was when the President announced that there was no homework this evening!! The next stop was to Páirc an Chuinnigh, a short speech by the President outside was followed by a move inside to outline what was required to move the project to the next stage. The final stop of the tour was the site of the new development where the President met the Development Committee who highlighted their hopes and aspirations for the site. It was a great day for the four codes, with lots of people to thank including the organising committee, the county GAA officials, the local politicians, the media, our very own professional photographer (The chairman's daughter), and each member of the community who attended. And of course, not to forget the staff from the kitchen who put a great spread. Míle buíochas
